What We Do

“The National Park Service is committed to providing a work environment free from discrimination and harassment based on race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy and gender identity), sexual orientation, national origin, age, disability, family medical history (including genetic information), status as a parent, marital status, and political affiliation.

   – Directors Order #16E (4-19-2018 update)

Workplace Culture Initiatives

The commitment to having a positive workplace, totally free of harassment, retaliation and other negative behaviors, is among the highest of priorities for the NPS Director and Secretary of the Department of Interior.

Through the Workforce and Inclusion Directorate’s Office of Learning and Development, the NPS provides training and tools to all employees – supervisors and non-supervisors alike, in order to foster a workplace that is productive and healthy, and with the goal of elimination of any type of harassment to any employee.

Training and information are the greatest means of preventing potentially bad situations from occurring. This resource page is intended to provide anyone, regardless of location or situation, with the information needed to know how to prevent, react to, or report any situation that might be inappropriate or non-conducive to a positive work environment.

We also invite you to participate in our new discussion group in the Commons, “Working together for a safe & harassment- free NPS”
