The National Park Service Career Academy for Visitor and Resource Protection (VRP) is a part of a larger NPS Learning and Development effort. The VRP career track provides a pathway for all employees to acquire and refine their skills in successfully meeting job requirements, position competencies and personal development goals while accomplishing the NPS Mission.

Program Vision

Whether an employee is seeking mastery and proficiency of skills in their current position or career advancement, the career academy may provide a logical progression from “hire to retire” for every Visitor and Resource Protection employee.

As an employee advances through entry, developmental, journey and advanced performance levels the NPS Career Academy will aid as a virtual career catalog at any point in their career.  The NPS Career Academy will also serve employees who may want to change career fields or have collateral duties in areas outside of their primary position (related to VRP careers).
