The Discover Our Shared Heritage Travel Itinerary Series features historic places that are listed in the National Register of Historic Places. The National Park Service has been working with both public and private partners since 1995 to highlight thousands of sites – bringing them to the attention of anyone interested in learning more about American history. Many of the travel itineraries were first proposed by local preservation organizations; historical societies; chambers of commerce; regional or statewide groups; and federal, state, and local government agencies, who then worked in partnership with the National Park Service to develop them. The travel itineraries spotlight different communities, geographic regions, and themes across the country that expose visitors to a variety of places significant in American history, architecture, archeology, engineering and culture.
