Alaska Science and Learning Centers

The NPS works with many partners through the Alaska Science and Learning Centers. These park-based centers facilitate and support research and science education programs.

What you’ll find

Research and discovery in the subarctic and arctic. The Murie Science and Learning Center promotes science and stewardship on behalf of national parks in northern Alaska. Murie is part of a national effort to increase scientific literacy by showcasing research from living laboratories like Denali National Park and Preserve. The Murie Science and Learning Center is run by the National Park Service in partnership with Alaska Geographic and other organizations.

The Ocean Alaska Science and Learning Center (OASLC) is dedicated to understanding and preserving the marine ecosystem that connects Alaska’s National Parks through research and education. The OASLC works with diverse partners to achieve this mission and is part of a national effort to increase the amount of scientific research in the national parks, and thus the effectiveness of science-informed decision making, and to make that science available to the public.
