Re-Learning How to Learn (Although You Probably Know This Already)

Overview

Why is it so difficult for some of us to learn? We assume we know the answers, jump to conclusions, criticize each other’s shortcomings and reject real creativity in the workplace. In the process, we lose the chance to recapture the sense of excitement and satisfaction we once had in learning new things with an open and perceptive mind.

In this video, Dr. Melanie Cohen, IT Strategist with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, interviews Dr. Chris Durney, Director at Phase One Consulting Group, on re-learning how to learn and the challenges to real learning we face every day. They cover topics such as:

  • Why smart people find it hard to learn
  • How to avoid falling into the intelligence trap
  • How to use double-loop learning to test assumptions
