Open Enrollment Process

The GOAL Academy open enrollment process occurs once a year (typically in June) and is initiated with an announcement generated by the Washington Office to the field. Applications are accepted during a 2 – 3 week period.

Correction: The above memo states that the benefitting accounts for employees in the Pacific West region are expected to pay for their portions of the program costs. Good news! For the FY20 program, the Pacific West Region has offered to pay those costs as opposed to the parks needing to front those expenses. This means that the regions and WASO will pay for all FY20 program costs for all participants in any NPS unit.

Open enrollment for the FY20 GOAL Academy program is May 29 – June 19, 2019. Applications are due by midnight Eastern Time on June 19, 2019.

How to Apply

  1. Review the eligibility criteria and FAQ for the GOAL Academy program.
  2. Verify that you can meet all program expectations and obligations as outlined in the document FY20 GOAL Academy Overview_Participant Expectations_Training Schedule 
  3. Open the FY20 GOAL Application Form Preview and prepare your responses in advance of submitting them online in the next step. This document includes additional application instructions, helpful hints, and the actual questions contained in the online application.
  4. Submit your responses. Note: This link opens a Google Form on which you enter your responses)

What Happens Next?

After the open enrollment period closes, WASO will compile all of the applications and submit them to regional panelists who will rate the applicants. Each region determines its final participant selections. You will be notified of the results by the end of July or early August.
