What it is
The Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) annual edition is the codification of the general and permanent rules published in the Federal Register by the departments and agencies of the Federal Government produced by the Office of the Federal Register (OFR) and the Government Publishing Office. Within the CFR, Title 36 gives rules specific to Parks, Forests, and Public Property.
Why it matters
Title 36 gives NPS employees a legal reference to understand their obligations related to everything from Boating and Water Use Activities to Zoning Standards.
The CFR is kept up to date on the GPO website. You can review past versions and updates to the CFR as well.
