Overview

The American Public Gardens Association (APGA) is a nonprofit organization committed to increasing the knowledge of public garden professionals throughout North America. APGA’s vision is a world where public gardens are indispensable. The organization maintains a website with resources related to public gardens including opportunities for webinars and training to encourage professional growth, as well as information for professionals interested in research, public awareness and networking.

APGA work together with members and others to strengthen and shape public horticulture, providing the tools and support industry professionals need to better serve the public while preserving and celebrating plants creatively and sustainably. Since 1940, APGA has been committed to increasing cooperation and awareness among gardens. Members include more than 585 institutions, spanning all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Canada, and 24 countries. Members include, but are not limited to, botanic gardens, arboreta, zoos, museums, colleges and universities, display gardens, and research facilities.
