Advanced Law Enforcement Training FAQ

Overview

The Advanced Training Program at the National Park Service Law Enforcement Training Center (NPS_LETC) is responsible for law enforcement training after the Field Training and Evaluation Program (FTEP). This includes annual law enforcement refresher training, in-service training, initial instructor training and instructor refreshers.

The Advanced Training Program makes many of the training programs at the Department of Homeland Security Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) available to NPS Park Rangers through on center training at the various facilities and through export classes.

How do I apply for a class?

When a Advanced Training class has been announced it will include a closing date much like a job announcement. A completed nomination form and supporting documents will need to be sent to the appropriate regional contact by the closing date on the announcement.

What trainings are available?

Visit the FLETC website to view upcoming training. The National Park Service does not have seats in all of the offered classes. If you see a class on the FLETC website, and not on the NPS calendar the class is not available. To learn more visit NPS-LETC Advanced Training Website.
