To meet the different demands on employee time and operations, the NPS Fundamentals Program will pilot a five-day version of the NPS Fundamentals Residential Training at Albright Training Center in Grand Canyon National Park. This shortened class covers similar material as the traditional eight-day residential training but in a more condensed format.
The five-day class do not replace the eight-day residential program, rather, it provides an opportunity for employees who, for various reasons, may not be able to be on extended, long-distance travel.
The Fundamentals curriculum provides an overview of the agency and our mission. Participants will get an overview of NPS operations, build on soft skills like communication and teamwork, and have ample opportunity to build and strengthen their networks.
NPS Fundamentals Program is open to employees within their first two-years of permanent status. We encourage employees who have already worked for NPS as a seasonal or term and have a broader exposure to NPS and its multiple units to attend these classes.
There is no tuition for any NPS Fundamentals course. Travel for these classes will be paid for by the NPS Fundamentals Program. These travel cost not count against your Park/Unit/Region travel ceiling.
Upcoming Five-Day NPS Fundamentals Classes
- February 12 through 19, 2020 (no class Saturday or Sunday)
- February 24 through 28, 2020 (Monday through Friday)
