Overview
The 21st Century Leadership and Supervision Program enables employees from National Capital, Northeast, and Southeast regions to come together to build relationships and develop leadership skills.
Program details
- 10 month program; January 2019 – October 2019
- Cohort meets virtually at least once per month
- Each month will focus on a different topic of leadership and/or supervision
- Participants explore the material and participate in discussions
- All costs are covered by the regional offices including:
- Training,
- Books and materials,
- Group coaching sessions, and
- Personality/style assessments.
Who is eligible?
Only staff from the National Capital Region, Northeast Region and Southeast Region are eligible to participate in this program. These individuals:
- Can be work leaders (and others) interested in gaining the necessary skills to become supervisors
- Can be at any grade level
- Must be able to attend all monthly sessions

Objectives
This innovative program creates a network of people, knowledge and skills that will increase current performance and provide exposure to the following:
- A structured virtual learning environment
- Gaining knowledge and experience with the OPM executive core competencies
- Developing and building your leadership skills
- Completing foundational supervision courses
- Being a member of an active cohort and leadership support network
- Participating in a mentor relationship
- Participating in group coaching sessions
- Accessing relevant, informal learning resources
- Preparing you for leadership and supervision in the NPS

The Employee Development Officers at NCR, NER, and SER designed this program to develop employees who currently serve as a team lead, or who are interested in gaining the skills needed to become an effective supervisor/ leader in the National Park Service.
