Forty two participants in FY16 MIPP
The FY 16 Managers Institute on Public Policy (MIPP) took place in Washington, D.C., from April 25-29, 2016. The MIPP is hosted by the Office of Legislative and Congressional Affairs, and coordinated by the WASO Learning and Development, Leadership Development Group. The course is designed to provide participants with a better understanding of legislative and congressional affairs.
The 42 participants of the FY 16 training were exposed to a variety of topics including working with Congress, the NPS budget and Congress, ethics, the Solicitor’s Office, and NPS policy issues. The course also included a trip to Capitol Hill, during which participants had the opportunity to attend Congressional hearings.
The primary facilitators for the event were Don Hellmann, Assistant Director, Office of Legislative and Congressional Affairs, and Patricia Woods of the Woods Institute. Additional NPS speakers included Jon Jarvis, Peggy O’Dell, Stephanie Toothman, Julia Washburn, Elaine Hackett, Judy Hart, Denise Ryan, Melissa Kuckro, Brian Borda, Jeff Davies, Alexa Viets, Susan Farinelli, Kirsten Talken-Spaulding, Russ Wilson, Alma Ripps, Mike Shelton, Jessica Bowron, Michael Slobodian, and Reggie Chapple.
