The Leadership Development Group (WASO Learning and Development) is recruiting for instructors/facilitators for the New Supervisor Development Program (NSDP) and the New Division Chief Leadership Development Program (NDCLDP).

New Supervisor Development Program (NSDP)

This blended learning program was developed collaboratively at the Department level with the Bureau of Land Management and the Fish and Wildlife Service. The NSDP is a suite of courses (both classroom based and distance learning) designed to give supervisors the knowledge and skills necessary to perform their jobs during the 12-month probationary period of their initial appointment. Facilitators are utilized during the classroom portion of the program, the Supervisory Skills Workshop (SSW). The Training Manager for the NSDP is Katrina Roberts.
Instructor/Facilitator Requirements:
  • Must be or have been a supervisor with the NPS
  • Must be or have been an instructor or teacher in the past
  • Must be at least a GS-11 or equivalent or above
  • Must have approval from supervisor and Superintendent
  • Must attend one SSW session as an observer
  • Must be able to teach at least two SSW sessions each fiscal year

New Division Chief Leadership Development Program (NDCLDP)

The NDCLDP targets new Division Chiefs within their first two years of assignment. The focus is on enhancing a new Division Chief’s ability to be an effective member of a management team. The program uses a blended-learning approach consisting of residential and distance-learning courses over a six-month period, and focuses on the following leadership competencies: Human Capital Management, Conflict Management, Influencing/Negotiating, Partnering, Political Savvy, Accountability, Team Building, and Systems Thinking.  The Training Manager for the NDCLDP is Katherine Callaway.
Instructor/Facilitator Requirements:
  • Must be or have been a division chief with the NPS
  • Must be or have been an instructor or teacher in the past
  • Must be at least a GS-11 or equivalent or above
  • Must be able to instruct at least one webinar session (approximately 2 hours in length) and at one residential session (3 days) for each cohort
  • Must have approval from supervisor and Superintendent

(NOTE: The application period for 2016 is now closed. Please check back after January 2017 for next year.)
If you are interested in facilitating for the NSDP or NDCLDP, and meet the criteria specified above, please send a description of your experience and qualifications to the corresponding Training Manager. A statement of approval must also be sent from your supervisor and/or Superintendent.  Applications must be submitted no later than April 29, 2016.
Please note that all travel costs will be paid by the Leadership Development Group.
